Cyclic Behavior of Bolted Stiffened End-Plate Moment Connections for Different Bolt Pretensioning Levels: An Experimental Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Bolted stiffened end-plate moment connections are one of the most usable used as a prequalified connection in special steel frames. According to AISC design code, this can be considered important parts resisting frames with enough bolt pretension levels. In paper, using three full-scale bolted designed according AISC, effects levels have been examined experimentally under SAC cyclic-loading protocol. Bolt level has defined α coefficient show pretensioning specimens. The bolts first specimen not pretensioned, called snug-tightened bolts, and reference connections. second third is created accordance code more Fu pretensioned fully respectively. bolt’s capacity, total energy absorption, initial rotational stiffness, ductility well stress strain variation investigated. results, increase would significantly improve cyclic behavior Furthermore, an led initiation inelastic deformation from smaller rotation, improved. addition, rate growth capacity absorption was 8% 9% compared Note that by regulations comparison where higher than value mentioned better but needed.

Numerical Analysis of Cyclic Behavior of Beam-To-Column Bolted Connections in Steel Frames

This article considers the seismic behavior of beam-to-column joints in steel frames for different bolt arrangements by using of finite element modeling. As the most important beam-to-column joint type, the beam-to-column joints with end-plate is chosen for the analysis. Four different specimens have been analyzed. These models had some differences such as bolt arrangement and the presence or a...

Experimental Study and Comparative Numerical Analysis of the Mechanical Behavior of Extended End-Plate Connections with End-Plate Stiffeners

To investigate the influence of end-plate stiffeners on the initial rotational stiffness of extended end-plate internal joints, an experimental program was carried out to investigate the rotational behavior of the joints. Two finite element methods (FEMs) were proposed using ABAQUS software. The stress distribution, plastic development, and deformation characteristics of extended end-plate join...

Cyclic response of multiple bolted connections

Because of it’s economy, high strength-to-weight ratio and stiffness-to-weight ratio, wood can compete with steel and reinforced concrete as a construction material in a market with an increasing demand for large structures such as community buildings, gymnasiums, schools and bridges. However, continued acceptance or expansion in this market, particularly in high wind or seismic areas, depends ...
